Best of Times in a Golden Age

The sun sets and rises to see
two seemingly star-crossed lovers
in their prime
Enjoying their time with each other

Fabled grains of sand fall
Passing through time and glass
Flowing like fleeting moments
Memoirs of the past
and
hope for the future
coming together
Culminating as the present
A beautiful relationship
between the here and now

Shadows and spectres
of acquainted faces
and familiar places
They come and go
paying their respects
to concepts set in precious stone
Symbolic of life and love
United plights
Bonded blessings
The embodiment of destiny’s duality

Life is read by
chapters and stages
Each day is a brand new phase
A turning of pages
marked in the book of ages
If what’s seen
in between the lines can be believed
then tempo and rhyme
reside on the same page

On the same page meaning
the closest they’ll ever be
in age
in time
in body
in mind

Also the farthest
from shadows of death
from pain
from tears of sadness
and melancholy moments
From upheaved memories

The closest they’ll ever be
to all that they long for
and
The farthest they’ll ever be
to what cuts short their felicity

Fates demystified
made no less exciting
no less frightening
no less inspiring
no less painful
no less special

It is in this moment in time
they both realize
they will spend
the rest of their lives
with each other
They each will die
as their loved one can only watch
Fates that can not be stopped
It eases the pain knowing
they have a love
that never dwindles or wanes

Magic manifested in a minute

Their lives are a medley of emotions
melancholy moments
merry memories
with many more going unmentioned
and they embrace every bit of it

Just as this circle
is without end
Their love for each other
is eternal
